ATMOSPHERIC WORLDS | Experimental Reishi Bioart
by Soeren Niederschmidt
Soeren Niederschmidt
Independent bio artist. After a detour in public service, I discovered my love for nature and started studying product design with a dream of building tree houses. Here I came across mycelium, biofabrication and luminous organisms. After graduation, I attended a few organic conferences and produced organic art using Reishi mushrooms. Now I am looking for a job as a bio designer in a visionary biofabrication company in Europe.

Nature is a four-dimensional brush.
Mushrooms speak an unmistakable language about the concept of how nature works. These ideas should be given a stage so that as many people as possible can learn about them.
In a six-month experiment, Reishis were grown in test tubes and arranged in templates. At various stages of growth, primoridia were photographed in the play of composition, light, moss and water. To create an atmospheric sense of context, the images were post-processed with Photoshop.
